Hi, my name is Danielle, I am going to be demonstrating some Thai massage today, specifically focusing on the hip, but first I wanted to tell you a little bit about the Thai massage, and essentially Thai massage is a series of palm presses, thumb presses, and stretches that are all done to help elongate the muscles and also lubricate the joint capsules, all while keeping a very sedative, relaxing massage. So I am going to demonstrate right now some moves on Samantha. So I am going to go ahead and start by just some simple palm presses to get the muscles warmed up before we stretch them. Thai massage is always focused on slow, deep compressions that help move the blood flow in and out of the muscle. Go ahead and move into our first stretch here. If you are familiar with yoga, you may know this as this as the tree pose. It really helps you open up your hip adductors, so everything that’s moving your leg towards your body, and again with the palm pressing and moving to the stretch also gets the inside of the leg as well as the glutes and hamstrings. We’re going to move into a little joint mobilization, bringing it through the full range of motion helps with lubrication of that joint. So we’re engaging the low back. Finish it off with a gentle tug to realign the hip, and that pretty much sums up my demonstration for high hip stretches.
