Prenatal massage is very similar to a “regular massage“, except we provide special bolstering for expectant mothers, and avoid certain areas of the body. A prenatal massage is designed to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and flexibility. Depending on how far along you are and how much baby there is, we adjust the bolstering for your comfort. We pay special attention to circulation and pressure points to make sure you and the baby are safe and have a relaxing experience. Most women are more comfortable in a side-laying position, and we adapt the massage techniques to work on your issues while keeping you comfortable.
Pregnancy Massage Techniques
For most women, “deep tissue” as well as “Swedish” massage is used. We always work with your comfort level on pressure and will incorporate relaxation techniques. As your body changes, there is more stress on the abdomen and hip and back areas. We will customize your session to work on any areas that are tense or painful to restore muscle flexibility.
